Global Investor Program (GIP)

The Global Investor Programme (GIP) is planned and managed by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) under the Singapore Department of Contact Singapore. It assists entrepreneurs to invest and expand their businesses in Singapore. Please visit www.edb.gov.sg/gip for more information.


Those who intend to start a business or invest in Singapore can apply for Singapore Permanent Residence (PR) through the Global Investor Program (GIP). Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply for Singapore Permanent Residence through this program.

GIP Eligibility

a) You must have at least three years of entrepreneurial or business experience; and

a) Your immediate family must hold at least 30% of the shares of the company for which you are applying for this plan, or be the largest shareholder; and

a) You must be the founder and one of the largest individual shareholders of a company with a valuation of not less than S$500 million; and

a) You must have at least five years of entrepreneurial, investment or management experience; and

Investment proposal evaluation criteria

An investment of not less than S$2.5 million to establish a new business entity or expand an existing business operation.

    Option A Applicants must submit a detailed five-year business or investment plan. The content must be based on the items listed in Form B of the application, including the expected number of employees, annual business expenditures and relevant financial data. The scope of evaluation will include the feasibility of the plan, your scope of responsibilities in the company, the company's business activities and the corresponding local jobs created. You must hold at least 30% of the company's shares and be a member of the company's management (e.g. executives, board of directors); and the company must belong to at least one business field in the list of industries in Appendix B.

Invest not less than S$2.5 million in a Global Investor Programme fund that primarily invests in Singapore companies.

    The scope of the Option B assessment will include the feasibility of the business plan within five years, the scope of your responsibilities in the company, the company's business activities, the corresponding local employment opportunities created, and annual business expenditure.

Invest at least S$2.5 million in a new or existing single-family office established in Singapore. The office must have assets under management of at least S$200 million.

    Applicants for Option C must submit a detailed five-year business plan. Its contents must be based on the items listed in Form B of the application, including the corresponding estimated number of employees and annual financial forecasts. The plan must indicate your role in the single-family office and the asset allocation and investment strategy, including asset classes, investment industries and geographical regions.

application process

    Applicants communicate with AJK consultants and fill in the application assessment form. AJK arranges for applicants to have a preliminary understanding and communication with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). Sign a contract, prepare complete application materials and submit the application. The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) invites applicants to participate in an interview. After passing the interview, you will receive a letter of approval in principle for the global business investment plan issued by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Applicants implement the promised investment within the 6-month validity period of the letter of approval in principle. Obtain the final letter of approval for the global business investment plan issued by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Complete the relevant procedures within one year and officially become a Singapore permanent resident (PR). After two years of permanent resident status, you can continue to apply for Singapore citizenship.
